*M.A in Economics from Kashmir’s Pulwama Joins Militancy*
Anantnag July 22,Militant recruitment that had come down in the valley this year is showing signs of picking up as more youth continue to join their ranks, despite the life span of a local militant having decreased manifolds.
*Young students, brilliant scholars, engineers, doctors and many more young boys have picked up the gun after the killing of Burhan Wani in 2016, which many experts believe is due to the growing denial of space for political dissent.*
However the Indian side has been arguing that more youth continue to join the Militant ranks because of its glorification through many proxy social media accounts, which remain faceless and are operated on behest of Intelligence agencies in Pakistan.
*The undermined narrative in this battle of narratives is, the narrative on the ground, that most of the youth who join Militant ranks have been victims of the state’s crackdown against Kashmir’s youth who have been part of peaceful or stone throwing protests since the outbreak of a civilian uprising in 2010.*
One more youth from South Kashmir has picked arms and posed with an *AK 47 rifle to tell his family that he has joined Militant ranks.*
The youth has been *identified as Aaqib Ahmed Wani, a resident of Banduna area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama District.*
Locals said that Aaqib had left home a few days back after which he disappeared.
According to Sources Aaqib was pursuing MA in Economics.
The family looked for him everywhere and today his photo appeared on the social networking with him announcing his entry into the militant outfit Jaish e Muhammad.
An official said that they are confirming the authenticity of the photograph.
South Kashmir districts have witnessed a surge in youth joining the Militant ranks after the encounter of Burhan Wani on July 08, 2016.
Despite the Indian Army having launched ‘Operation All Out’ and intensifying the Anti Militancy operations, the local Militancy is on rise.
The Himalayan region has seen large number of youth picking up arms since an armed insurgency began against the Indian rule in 1988.
