With the objective of lauding the painstaking efforts of seasoned environment and health crusaders of the country, two popular city based publications namely “Namaskar Dunia” and “Talaash Wajood Ki” hosted a gala event titled “Environment & Health Warrior Awards 2019” at Ambedkar Bhawan, Janpath, New Delhi on March 2, 2019. The event was the brainchild of senior media personalities and conceptualizers Jaswant and Rajni Panwar who went that extra mile in meticulously selecting the most meritorious and deserving achievers from the field of environment and health.
The Chief Guest of the event was Special Secretary and Financial Advisor, Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt of India, Rabindra Panwar and the Guest of Honour was IPS Robin Hibu, Special Commissioner of Police, Delhi Police. The emcee of the event was Dhaarna Mehrotra who elucidated the core aims and objectives of the glorious evening.
Notable among those who graced the occasion were senior journalists Ranvir Gehlot, Arun Sharma and Rajendra Joshi.
After the traditional lighting of the lamp ceremony by the distinguished personalities, Megha Sharma gave a mesmerizing Ganesh Vandana performance, and this was ensued by an equally stunning performance by Kavish Jain to highlight the significance of “Save Tree Campaign and Environment Protection”.
The two key highlights of the event were the awards ceremony and a thought provoking panel discussion themed “Role of Environment & Health in enhancing the basic quality of life, and thus paving the way to a New India”.
The stimulating panel discussion was anchored and moderated by senior journalist Bipin Sharma, and the panellists included Dr Anuj, Dr RK Tuli, Kamal Singh, RC Kataria, Dr Raman Puri, Dr RK Tuli and Dr Naresh Chawla.
Among those felicitated during the course of the glittering event were IPS Robin Hibu (Special Commissioner of Police & noted Health Crusader), Harvard Subject Shahnaz Husain (Global Pioneer of Ayurveda), Dr Anuj (Microsurgeon & Author of Best Seller), Rajeev Bisht (Bird Watcher), Padma Shree Avdesh Kaushal (noted Social Activist) , Kamal Singh (Executive Director, United Nations Global Compact Network India), Dr Mukesh Jetley (Renowned orthodontist), Dr RK Tuli (Global Pioneer of Holistic Medicine), Y.K Pant (Project Director, National Health Mission), Dr Raman Puri (Interventional Cardiologist & Chairman Lipid Association of India), Dr Naresh Chawla (Medical Leader & Former President of Delhi Medical Association), Mahendra Singh Kanwar (Social Activist), Dr SD Joshi (Senior Physician), Poonam Saini (Wellness Expert) and Kesar Dutt (senior journalist).
Speaking on the occasion, event conceptualizer and eminent media personality Rajni Panwar said, “The event was organized to honour the seasoned “Environment and Health Crusaders” of the nation who had made relentless contribution in making the world a better place to live in. The driving force behind honouring and felicitating the Environment and Health Crusaders as “Warriors” was to send a strong message across the entire length and breadth of the country about the pertinence of protecting the Environment and spreading all round awareness about good health.“Merit” was the sole criteria on the basis of which these awards were conferred on the most deserving Achievers.”
Sharing more on the same, Jaswant Singh Panwar said, “The Management of Namaskar Dunia and Talaash Wajood Ki are working in sync with the government’s vision and resolute to contribute towards the cleanliness drive, started by Prime Minister Modi, on a personal and collective level. We are pledged towards increasing awareness about pollution and the need to maintain cleanliness both at home and outside.”
IPS Robin Hibu in his role as the President Helping Hands NGO has been hailed as a relentless “Health Warrior” for playing a pivotal role in providing health facilities to the weaker segments of different North Eastern states.
Sharing more on the same, Hibu, the good Samaritan said, “It’s been an extremely challenging journey so far, and I have no qualms in saying that I have never shied from taking the less travelled roads. I am pledged to serving the North East People in distress, and empowering them by creating awareness, providing legal-emergency assistance as well as healthcare–education facilities. We have been spreading all round awareness among people about the need to ensure their overall wellbeing, and to shield them from any discrimination. Every member of the society and every state is an integral component of the country, and in the true sense, happens to be the mainstream segment of our country and the pluralistic society. We have regularly conducted cancer detection camps for north east people who are working in unorganized private companies with Cancer Society of India. Then there is a North East Blood Bank which has reserve North East youths for platelets. The list is endless and we have miles to go as many milestones need to be achieved.”
Microsurgeon Dr Anuj pointed, “The urgent need is to decrease pollutants and achieve a clean country with healthy citizens. It is sad when many chronic patients have literally, not by choice, but out of compulsion, have been forced to shift base to tranquil rural belts with abundant lease of fresh air to avoid further damage to their health. Blame it on the unavoidable pollution in the environment, our general body immunity, or simply the modern day sedentary lifestyle, many people fall sick during the change of season phase, or when there is a sudden rise in the pollution level due to emanation of hazardous and poisonous gases in the atmosphere.”
Medicosocial Activist Dr Naresh Chawla added, “Blame it on our lethargic attitude, or the absence of a proactive RWA in some areas, that we as local dwellers, are left to endure the misery as mere mute spectators to incidents of reckless burning of leaves and garbage in our near surroundings by habitual violators. These are violators who need to be severely taken to task for not just polluting the air quality, but for jeopardizing the well being of countless citizens. Due to the gross negligence of such irresponsible people, many are left to bear the brunt of excruciating polluted air due to which their existent ailment only gets aggravated. We need to take a steel pledge in contributing our bit towards making our nation a better place to live in by creating healthy and environment friendly paraphernalia.”
